Xylooligosaccharides (XOS), as polymers of the sugar Xylose, originating from enzymatic hydrolysis of arabinoxylans (AX), are prebiotics with selective stimulation of beneficial gut microbiota exert. XOS increases the abundance of Bifidobacterium (1.4 g/2.8 g/ day - 8 weeks) and of Bacteroides fragilis (2.8 g/day – 8 weeks)
