Lymphoid Tissue Inducer (LTi) cells, a specialized subset of the innate lymphoid cell group 3 (ILC3s), are crucial for the development of lymphoid organs such as lymph nodes and Peyer's patches. These cells are distinguished by their unique gene expression profile and originate from a specific progenitor. LTi cells are not only integral to the formation of these lymphoid structures but also play vital roles in the activation and functionality of T and B cells. Due to their specialized functions and distinct characteristics, LTi cells are recognized as a separate lineage within the innate lymphoid family, distinctly different from other ILCs and conventional natural killer cells. This classification underscores their unique role and importance in the immune system.
