Chronic kidney disease is a long-term condition where the kidneys don't work as well as they should. This happens because of different reasons. It's usually identified by a drop in kidney function, shown by an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) of less than 60 mL/min per 1.73 m², or signs of kidney damage like protein in the urine, blood in the urine, or other issues found through tests or scans that last for at least 3 months.
