Proteasome degrades ubiquitinated proteins one by one
Proteasomes generate spliced epitopes
The proteasome is an intracellular protease complex (whether there are more of them is unknown) for the ubiquitin-dependent degradation of cytosolic proteins and consists of about 28 subunits.
The resulting short peptides are transported into the endoplasmic reticulum with the help of the TAP transporter and from there to the cell surface with MHC class I molecules
The coding for the proteasome lies in the LMP genes in the MHC gene complex.
