Megamonas rupellensis is a newly identified species within the genus Megamonas, which belongs to the family Acidaminococcaceae. This bacterium is characterized as a Gram-negative to Gram-variable, rod-shaped, non-spore-forming anaerobe. The species was first isolated from the caecum of a duck and is designated as strain FM1025(T) (also known as DSM 19944(T) or CIP 109788(T)).
