Heredity plays a significant role in the development of colorectal cancer (CRC), with 20-30% of cases being familial.

Common Hereditary CRC Syndromes are:

• Lynch Syndrome: This is the most prevalent hereditary form of CRC, accounting for approximately 23% of cases.


• Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP): Responsible for 0.5-1% of CRC cases.


• Other Hereditary Variants: These include MUTYH-associated polyposis (MAP) and Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, among others, collectively representing less than 1% of cases.
