Acute Bronchitis

Acute bronchitis is a short-term inflammation of the bronchial tubes, typically lasting from a few days to a few weeks. It often develops suddenly and is usually caused by a viral infection, such as the common cold or Influenza (Flu).

Symptoms

Common symptoms of acute bronchitis include:

• Persistent cough


• Production of mucus (sputum)


• Fatigue


• Shortness of breath


• Slight fever


• Chest discomfort

These symptoms generally resolve on their own within a few weeks.

Causes

The primary cause of acute bronchitis is viral infections. However, it can also be triggered by:
