This glycoprotein is primarily produced by Natural killer cells (NK cells) and Cytotoxic T cell (CTL). Perforin / Perforin-1 is a pore-forming protein that polymerizes to create channels in the cell membranes of target cells. These channels disrupt the protective barrier of the cell membrane, allowing for the passive transport of ions, water, small molecules, and enzymes
