Immunotoxins often carry cytotoxic payloads that are usually protein toxins or their modified derivatives. These can originate from various sources such as bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa exotoxin A, diphtheria toxin, or anthrax toxin. They may also come from plants, like ricin, saporin, or gelonin. Additionally, human-derived components such as proapoptotic proteins and RNA enzymes are used, as well as other sources like chelona toxin (1, 2, 3, 4 ,5).
