Pharmacobiomics

The term “Pharmacobiomics” is used broadly for the interaction between drugs and the “biome” (often still mainly the gut microbiome), sometimes framed as a sub‑area of pharmacogenomics that includes microbial as well as human genomic contributions to drug response. Pharmacobiomics explores how variations in the gut microbiota affect the distribution, efficacy, and toxicity of drugs (1, 2, 3).
