Anti-PD-1 antibodies / PD-1 inhibitors

Anti-PD-1 antibodies / PD-1 inhibitors are drugs that block the T cell checkpoint molecule Programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1), which is otherwise used by tumors to drive the immune cell to its own death. A discrepancy among the effectiveness of these Anti-PD-1 antibodies / PD-1 inhibitors was observed, as patient response remained as low as 25% in some cases (Kaiser 2017 Science 358(6363): 573), which was hypothesized to be associated with the gut microbiome
