cGAS-like receptors (cGLRs) are a diverse family of pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) that play a crucial role in the innate immune system by detecting various molecular patterns and initiating immune responses. These receptors are evolutionarily related to cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS), an enzyme known for its role in sensing cytosolic DNA and triggering immune responses through the production of the second messenger 2′3′-cGAMP, which activates the STING pathway.
