Genome

= All genetic material of an organism

Our genome is passed down from our parents and stays stable throughout our life, with only a few nucleotide variations accumulating (1). By contrat, the genetic makeup of our microorganism complement, known as the human microbiome, is established at birth and evolves over time. It exhibits both significant temporal variability and personalization (2, 3).
