Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (Omega-3 PUFA) that serves as a primary structural component of the human brain, cerebral cortex, skin, and retina. In physiological literature, it is referred to as 22:6 (n-3). Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) can be synthesized from Alfa-Linolenic Acid (ALA) or obtained directly from maternal milk, such as breast milk, as well as from fatty fish, fish oil, or algae oil.
