Increased saturated very long chain ceramides (VLC ceramides) are vital for the inflammatory gene expression seen in Interleukin-10 (IL-10) deficiency. Genetic deletion of Ceramide Synthase 2 reduces the inflammatory gene expression linked to IL-10 deficiency.
