When Candidatus Savagella (Segmented filamentous bacteria/SFB) colonizes, it lowers the amount of CD152 (Cytotoxic T-Lymphocyte-Associated Protein 4 (CTLA-4)), an important regulatory molecule, on T follicular regulatory (Tfr) cells in the body.
