Sh2d6 is a specific marker identified for Tuft-2 cells. Tuft-2 cells strongly express the vomeronasal receptor (VR) Vmn2r26, which recognizes the bacterial metabolite N-undecanoylglycine (N-C11-G). This leads to the production of prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) to facilitate mucus secretion of goblet cells against bacterial infection.
