Simple mucin-type cancer-associated O-glycan structures, such as the Tn antigen (GalNAc-O-Ser/Thr), are expressed by certain helminth parasites. These antigens play a crucial role in various receptor–ligand interactions and are potential targets for immunotherapy.

The results of this study provide the first evidence of O-glycosylation pathways in Fasciola hepatica. These findings may help identify new biological characteristics of this parasite and enhance our understanding of the host–parasite relationship.
