Tolerogenic dendritic cells (tolDCs)

Tolerogenic DCs (tolDCs) are functionally defined by their ability to expand the regulatory T-cell compartment and suppress immune responses. However, it remains unclear whether tolDCs represent:

• A homogeneous population


• A specific DC subset


• A heterogeneous collection of DC activation/maturation states

The ligand-activated transcription factor aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) has been shown to control transcriptional programs associated with Tolerogenic dendritic cells (tolDCs).

Tolerogenic are heterogenous pool of DC with immuno-suppressive properties. Tolerogenic dendritic cells (tolDCs) show reduced expression of costimulatory molecules and induce antigen-specific unresponsiveness in CD4+
