Ring Finger Protein 213 (RNF213) is a large and unusual E3 ligase that mediates the direct and non-canonical ester-linked ubiquitylation of lipopolysaccharide (LPS). This process marks bacteria that sporadically enter the cytosol for destruction by antibacterial autophagy.
