Dendritic Cells (DCs) are present throughout the Intestine / Gastrointestinal Tract (Gut / GIT). They may be targets for modulation by gut microbes, including ingested probiotics. They are crucial in regulating the balance of CD4+ Th1 Cells, CD4+ Th2 cells, and Th3 cells and are found throughout the gastrointestinal tract. There is potential for the Th1/Th2/Th3-driving capacities of gut DC to be modulated based on the composition of gut microflora, including ingested probiotics.
