ATP has pro- and anti-inflammatory properties. Its’ activity is mediated over P2 (P2X receptors / P2X Purinoreceptor,P2Y Receptors) receptors. In the Lamina propria ATP promotes the differentiation of naïve CD4+ cells into Th17 cells upon induction of IL-23 and IL-1beta as pro-inflammatory cytokines from monocyte-macrophages. The chemotaxis of neutrophils and NK cells, the M1-type macrophage deviation, and DC maturation are increased.
